Every February 2nd, all eyes are on the largest member of the squirrel family, the groundhog. Not surprising – it’s Groundhog Day, the annual holiday that predicts the arrival of spring. Early morning festivals are held across North America to see if the groundhog spots its shadow when it emerges from its burrow. According to tradition, if a groundhog sees its shadow, there will be six weeks more of winter. And if it doesn’t, it’s a sign that an early spring is on the way.

March 20 is the International Day of Happiness and this year's theme is Happier Together, focusing on what we have in common, rather than what divides us.

According to the Italian tradition, the Befana is an old woman who brings presents to every child during the night of January 5th. The arrival of la Befana is celebrated with traditional Italian foods such as panettone and marks the end of the long and festive holiday season in Italy.

Erreka Mary is a Basque Country folk tale.Second graders read, record voices, illustrate the story and perform the tale for the pre-school students. They reflect on the importance of enviromental and water care and contribute with a digital book to the  World Water Day.

International Day of Happiness it’s a day to be happy, of course! Since 2013, the United Nations has celebrated the International Day of Happiness as a way to recognise the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world.

World Water Day, on 22 March every year, is about focusing attention on the importance of water.

 Virtual trip to cebrate this day, greeting each other in different languages.

The European Day of Languages (EDL) is an annual celebration day to encourage language learning across Europe. At the initiative of the Council of Europe, EDL has been celebrated every year, on 26 September, since the European Year of Languages in 2001.

The specific aims of the EDL are to:

• raise awareness of the importance of language learning in order to increase plurilingualism and intercultural understanding;
• promote the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe;
• encourage lifelong language learning in and out of school.

One of the most celebrated holidays of Madrid is held on May 15, the Feast Day of San Isidro who is the city's patron saint. At school we celebrated on Friday with chocolate, wafers and typical "rosquillas".

 

 

The project Let's be e-citizens was born in Europe, in the realm of the eTwinning Annual Conference in Athens  in October 2016. Since that moment we have succeeded in generating , not only a digital citizens' awareness, but also we have contribute to develop a European awareness.

To stregthen this European consciousness, tomorrow we will celebrate Europe Day with a video conference with our partners.

 

First edition of the digital micro-story contest has a winner! Congratulations to our fifth graders that wrote La aventura pixelada.This story will be published in our school magazine and translated to all the different languages spoken in our school community.Let's be e-citizens supports, urges, spread from class to class the digital culture.

To stregthen this European consciousness, Goody is on a journey to our partner's schools with the different parts of a nice story that we need to match like a puzzel in order to enjoy it. These boxes are on schedule to meet the Europe Day.

April 23 is a special day . It´s World Book Day. It is a celebration created in 1995 by UNESCO . It´s a world tribute to books and authors who have contributed to encourage reading and to discover the pleasure of reading.

Este año celebraremos el Día del Libro participando en el I Certamen de Microrrelatos Digitales organizado por la Biblioteca del colegio con la colaboración del APA.El tema de los trabajos es libre pero deberá terminar con la siguiente frase: ...y el Día del Libro fue más digital que nunca.
