Doing good by doing well

In autumn we had an amazing visit "Edgar" he was with us for several weeks and then left to visit another school.

Why don't we describe our friend Edgar! The following example can help you with this activity. You can do it as you like and then send me a photo of your work. We can make "Edgar's quarantine book" with all your works.

The project "Discovering schools and routes in Europe with Edgar" aims to send Edgar, the mascot of the European Mobility Week, on a real and digital tour through Europe.
Thus enabling to enter (inter) cultural and interactive exchanges with elementary schools from different countries.

EDGAR’S  PROJECT

DISCOVERING SCHOOLS AND ROUTES IN EUROPE WITH EDGAR

The project "Discovering schools and routes in Europe with Edgar" aims to send Edgar, the mascot of the European Mobility Week, on a real and digital tour through Europe.
Thus enabling to enter (inter) cultural and interactive exchanges with elementary schools from different countries. Through the cooperation of the different school classes via the twinspace platform, pupils, who are aged from 5 to 12 years, have the opportunity to experience Edgar in various European locations and to learn more about the country itself and the (school) life of the local people. Participating school classes have the task of gathering information material on topics such as language, country-specific traditions and festivals, food, music, games, and the school system and make it publicly available online. In addition, it is planned to set up a chat room, which will allow regular communication directly with partner classes across national borders. Another special focus of the project, in addition to the general exchange of information, is the joint discussion on sustainable mobility. Edgar is not only a medium for diversity but also an identifier of a Europe on the move and a Europe, whose environment needs to be protected. "Discover ways together with Edgar" aims to travel around environmentally friendly with Edgar, by bike, bus, train, on foot and to make children aware of this topic. The mascot Edgar is to accompany school classes on their paths inside and outside the school grounds, on excursions, rides, hikes, tours, school trips, etc.
As a common result, an Edgar photo collection will be created, which captures Edgar 's sustainable mobility and can be used as a thematic impulse for teaching.

The award ceremony of the E-Twinning quality labels for the Community of Madrid took place last week in IES Beatriz Galindo. The objective of the ceremony was to show the potential of E-Twinning as a learning community  to develop projects of collaboration between schools from different countries. During the ceremony, teachers and students whose projects had a national or European quality label, received  diplomas.

With this project we want to empower pupils’ digital competences with the special emphasis on the Internet safety, as communication and cooperation.

 Play and learn!

Athens was more than a meeting point to share our experiences and achievements, to learn and improve. It was the birthplace of our Let's be e-citizens.These are two of our partners and the Television program summarises the event.

Christmas is coming and we are ready to start our Christmas projects. We are learning how to create beautiful decoration to make festive our classrooms and school.

With this project we want to empower pupils’ digital competences with the special emphasis on the Internet safety, as communication and cooperation. Our goal is to look into availability of digital media pupils’ and their habits in the use of digital technology.

We have our first European Quality Label. Many thanks to Brigida Clemente (Italy) and Theophanis Kapsomanis (Greece), our partners in Europe, to make this possible.A rewarding and exciting  experience for both teachers and pupils.
The Quality Label is concrete recognition to teachers and schools of the high level of their eTwinning activities. For pupils, this offers a boost to their work efforts, and for the school in general, a public affirmation of their commitment to quality and openness in European collaborative work. The National Support Service (NSS) in each country evaluates applications  and grants the national Quality Label.
  Good job kids!!!

Toys to foster culture, our project!

Toys are tools to play, learn and socialize. They are always present in our lives and are linked to special and memorable moments. Toys have quite a story to tell us.

This project aims to listen to these stories while taking an insight in art, music, literature and Christmas.

It all started in November when we decided to plant two types of tulips. For those who have followed our Tulips' Odissey this is the summary.

Hi kids! Still some posts before leaving to my "paradise". Let's see if you like this video with  some of our best moments together -:). We have done so many things that it is impossible to present all of them!

OUR BEST MOMENTS

We feel great after having met our School to School  deadline ! A box with some student's  works is on the way to meet our friends in India.

As a result of an incident involving the destruction of one of the displays, today, on the Peace Day, one class have been talking about how they could improve their behaviour in and out of the classroom. They came up with 6 guidelines for our behaviour , which we will try to follow. We will do the same with the rest of the classes on the first cycle.

This morning when we came into class, we were shocked to find that the soil had been knocked out of the plant pot. This was very surprising to us, as we had covered it carefully with a net and wire so that the birds couldn't destroy it.
This couldn't have been a bird, or any other animal so we are asking ourselves, who or what did this to our tulip project?
As for the rest of the plant pots, they are safe and growing well in our greenhouse corridor.

I am glad with all  the photos you are sending me. Thank you very much! Our project is going to be awesome! The idea, for those who haven't contributed yet, is to take a shot on our neighbourhood. This one  is fantastic to highlight our  Sport Center "Vicente del Bosque" (Coach Spanish Selection).

Our neighbourhood has many places and street objects ( post box, telephone box, street lamps, bus stop, zebra crossing...) and these items  seems to be forgotten when taking a photo and they  are part of the vocabulary on  our unit at class!!!

The minutes of our meeting will be available tomorrow, on Parent's site (documents).

The topic for our  2015 Carnival at Rabindranath Tagore School is "Madrid". The underground is the thread that runs throughout the entire carnival. Some of its stations will be representing the different attractions of our city. As per our first graders' station is going to be LAVAPIÉS. We represent the multiculturality  of Madrid and  "Unity in Diversity"is our leiv  motive. To be continued...as we  want to create expectation!!!

There are lots of places and things to do in our neighbourhood. We are working on this topic as part of our curriculum and as part of our Erasmus project Knowing me! with Paris, Rome, London and Tallin.

We are going to make a big map on a wall.Your contribution  will be very important. We need to complete the map with more information and pictures where you are in !
