Science is the process of observing, asking questions, and finding things out about the world around you. Who is a Scientist? A scientist is someone who observes and questions those things around them, makes predictions, and tests their predictions. Then, scientists would draw conclusions based on their results.We have been scientists in  "Mediateca Pablo Iglesias" where J and Vitamina work. The experience has been wonderful!

We  have the oportunity to visit the library where we have  found some of our favourite books. All in all, a great and unforgetable day!!!

First graders went on a trip to Cultural Center Pablo Iglesias, to learn about science. First, we went into a science lab, which was full of exciting potions, books and experiments. Then, the scientists introduced themselves to us and explained to us how we had to behave and the steps of the scientific method.

Afterwards, we did some experiments and learnt that air is everywhere. For example, we used air in a bottle to inflate a glove when we put it in water. We had to decide what was stronger, wind or sea.

We found out that the beautiful colours of the rainbow, all together make the white!

 We enjoy the tornados in a bottle.

We revised the five senses and we were told how important is "sense of humor" when doing experiments!!!. At this point Lucy and me we had to colaborate in one of the experiments and it was very amusing. Dancing Staying Alive by Bee Gees !

And as a result of the last experiment we have some information to look for " Zenato"

Before going to the library, we had our morning snack. In the awesome library we read lots of interesting books.

It was a really fun day!

We are  ready to enjoy our first field trip. The prospect are good and I just want to remind you our conversation in class.

" Good demeanor and good manners open doors" and as a student's  grandfather told me this afternoon "Buenas formas y modales abren puertas principales"

The country mouse and the city mouse - An outing to the theatre

It all began with an all singing, all dancing Spanish mouse called Amelia. She introduced us to her house in a tree and her friends Mr Duck and Mr Cockrel. She received a letter from her English cousin who was coming to visit from London.

This authentic English mouse called Abigail was uptight and didn't like to try new things, she didn't like the food, she complained the house was too small and she took offence at the Spaniards actions when they were only being friendly.

They sang songs, danced and made us all laugh.

The two  cousins both went to London and stay in her big house, but while she was away a cat and dog moved in and they chase the mice all round the house and all around the theatre. It was a bit scary and very exciting. Then the mice asked for some volunteers to help scare away the cat and dog. Lucas from Tagore and another pupil from another school dressed up as ghosts and the whole audience made noises to scare away the hungry cat and dog.

After that Abigail the English mouse relaxed and decided to try the Spanish food and found she loved it. The mice had both made a new best friend.

It was great fun.

Los pronósticos del tiempo eran ciertamente penosos ¡¡lluvia!! pero no podía ser cierto que en nuestra primera salida tuviéramos tan mala suerte. La roja salía preparada con chubasqueros y hasta con un paraguas que casi que tenemos que utilizar de sombrilla. Hemos tenido un maravilloso, soleado y estupendo día de zoo.

Anécdota. Durante el espectáculo de Elvis "el león marino" la animadora ha dicho "Sólo se oye a los de rojo, a los del medio no se les  oye"."¡Venga chicos a participar!" ¿Quiénes eran los del medio? Se han picado las  profes y el  alumnado y al final la animadora ha dicho "Ahora muy bien , todos lo habéis hecho muy bien" Bueno, pues los del medio eran los mismos que se nos colaron a la entrada del zoo, un colegio uniformado...

Tomorrow is our field trip to the Zoo.  Please  make sure your child wears comfortable clothes.  We will arrive back at school in time for a late lunch (13:30h) We will  be having a  morning snack at the Zoo so please make sure your child has something to eat.
