The aim of the Science Week is to promote the relevance of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) to our everyday lives and to demonstrate their importance to the future development of Spanish society and to the economy.

Edgar's Diary

8 Science Week 2019

Science can help us to answer the what, the why and the how, while also revealing new questions. It is a problem solver, helping us to crack everyday challenges.

Once again, Edgar was in the right place at the right time.

¿Quién es un científico? ¿Qué hace? ¿Cómo trabaja? fueron algunas de las preguntas que nuestro papá-científico nos respondió. Tuvimos una presentación y por  supuesto hicimos un experimento aplicando el método científico.

HANDS-ON!

Science is the process of observing, asking questions, and finding things out about the world around you. Who is a Scientist? A scientist is someone who observes and questions those things around them, makes predictions, and tests their predictions. Then, scientists would draw conclusions based on their results. We have been scientists in  "Mediateca Pablo Iglesias" where J and Vitamina work. The experience has been wonderful!

Thank you Mónica
We  have the oportunity to visit the library where we have  found some of our favourite books. All in all, a great and unforgetable day!!!

Thinking about the risks of birds sabotage during the coming long weekend, we have been looking for different solutions.
The need for deterrent measures is clear and here is our first proposal. Hope it works!

We would never have imagined that after the weekend we would find all our window boxes dug. The bulbs were outside...Who did that? We are thinking on those black birds, who knows!
In those days , you could not make this up!
Besides, we found out that the bulbs were not sleeping at all , they believe is spring because the warm weather.
The odds had appeared to be stacked heavily againts our Tulip's project.

The present  for our class that I mentioned some weeks ago,  it  has been opened.Due to the good weather conditions,  we have been planting tulip bulbs!
How to plant a tulip bulb

1- First make sure that the season is autumn and that is nor warm, not to cold either, just cold.

2- Next, decide where to plant the bulbs. They grow best in a sunny , dry place.

3- After that, you need to dig holes for the bulbs.

4- Now you can plant the bulbs ( purple and orange). Put them in pointy-side first.

5- Then cover them with soil.

6- Finally, you need water the bulbs lightly. Don't give them too much water.

And from now on we need a lot of patience to see the results in spring when we will be on the unit "Plants and flowers"
In Science when experimenting we test our hypotheses and we explore the answers to questions.
Mario has shared with us his experiment  and all we have seen how important is warmth for the seeds to grow up.Remember that one cup has been in the refrigerator and the other one in normal conditions at home.
