Busy,busy, short week!

It's Thursday however for teachers and students, at least in Madrid, starts a long weekend. The weather is fine as for going to the park or wherever your family plans to go .I'll be in Italy to see, hear, taste, smell and feel. It is my senses experiment!
A nice long weekend  to speak Italian and  enjoy the beautiful city of Rome.

Ci vediamo Lunedi! See you on Monday!

Hands on!

Today we have  finished up with our smell experiment in group B. We know that smell affects taste.Yesterday, group B had a lovely butterfly cake to celebrate Chloé 's birthday! We couldn't mix garlic, "cabrales" cheese with the cake . No way!!!

My favourite toy!

Toys are tools to play, learn and socialize. They are always present in our lives and they are linked to special and memorable moments. Toys have a quite a story to tell us.

My performance is not a big deal yet, but it is improving! You can see something amazing on this video, a girl that is your age!

And more amazing performances!

Welcome Lucy!

I am delighted to introduce Lucy, the new language assistant this year. She is from Great Britain and  we have enjoyed her PowerPoint presentation. Now , we know many things about Lucy, her country and her favourite toy...

"Hello, I am Lucy, the new language assistant. I am from the north of England, though I have lived in Madrid for 2 years. I have really enjoyed my first few days at the school and I am really looking forward to helping you all to improve your English! "

Phonetics (E e)

A new set of letters comes along with our Playtime unit. Let's try more words with this video.

Our school on a book.

We are about to start a week full of cultural events. To start with, we are ready to mail a Box of Spanish Culture to our friends in London who are learning Spanish! Another box from England is on the way. What an exciting time! Will we be  able to guess what is inside?

Happy Weekend!

Some ideas:

To review the senses while you enjoy the weekend.

In our park with my eyes  I can see............
and now with your ears you can hear this nice song about friends.

Magic and creativity!

No matter which group I teach, the "cooking colour afternoon" is a success. So many faces filled with joy and satisfaction! Kids love to experiment and just, while  taking some pics, I could see concentration, friendship, admiration for other's work and collaboration.

Five senses

We keep learning about our five senses that allow  us to enjoy our life.We need to investigate what is the "sentido común" "common sense", adults mention from time to time. What is it? Where is it? Who has it?...

Knock, knock

A walk to the Retiro park can be the right thing to do on a brisk Saturday in the autumn or fall, it is the same. The changing colours in this quiet and peaceful garden is very pleasant. And, as I could see, there are many activities for those that love skating like you do!

Knock, knock
Who's there?

Fall once again.
What do you want?
The freshness of your face.
You can't have it.
I'll take it.

Knock, knock.
Who's there?
Fall once again.

Adaptation from Tan, tan by Federico García Lorca

Tan, tan.
¿Quién es?

El Otoño otra vez.
¿Qué quiere el Otoño?
El frescor de tu sien.
No te lo quiero dar.
Yo te lo quiero quitar.

Tan, tan.
¿Quién es?
El Otoño otra vez.
                   (Federico García Lorca)

Friday again!

And for those who enjoy dancing here you have the song we have just learnt. Girls,I love how you have  danced this morning!. Let's practice and add new movements.

Cooking colours

Cooking colours for our artwork "My favourite toy". A nice and exciting way to deal with the theory of colour. We have made the primary colours (red, blue and yellow) and out of them the secondary colours ( green, purple and orange) and we have had lot of fun  !!!

and here you can see the result...

Halloween is coming!

What's this?
This is a Halloween cake.
Today I was in the right place, at the right moment and I got it! Third graders had cakes of various themes ( flowers, Halloween, animals...)
Congratulations to the creative mum!

Classroom Language

Let's see if we can be as talkative in English as we are in Spanish! I wouldn't complain kids!
