From First Grade a la Carte

"H" For Halloween and for Homework

Nombramos juguetes, colores, respondemos a preguntas What's this?

Weekend cartoon!

Leaves, senses and decoration.

Let's go outside in this autumn day! Just collecting leaves for our classroom we can go through our unit "the five senses".
  • We can SEE the colours of the leaves with our eyes.
  • We can SMELL the leaves with our nose.
  • We can TOUCH the leaves with our hands.
  • We can HEAR the crunchy leaves with our ears.
  • We can TASTE the snack "merienda" with our tongue.

Going black and white

It's almost Halloween time! I think this festival is becaming quite popular nowadays in our country. Our class is working very hard on a new look.

Today we were busy with our "smell" experiment. We had some products in different containers; garlic "bad smell" , parfum, apple, orange, Cola-Cao and cheese. The favourite smell  has been"Cola-Cao".
Homework: "Don't forget the CDs"
I can smell with my nose.

My five senses

This week we have started a new unit. We are learning and investigating all about those important "5 SENSES".Halloween is coming therefore we have a witch to help us.

Little Fish

A nice story for a long weekend

"La Roja" visits the Zoo

Field Trip Reminder

Tomorrow is our field trip to the Zoo.  Please  make sure your child wears comfortable clothes.  We will arrive back at school in time for a late lunch (13:30h) We will  be having a  morning snack at the Zoo so please make sure your child has something to eat.

Pumpking feels lonely.

An autumn story for an autumn Sunday!

Life in First Grade

After the first week of regular timetable we all feel tired. What a busy week?As you all know the new Language Assistants Ocean and Sophi joined us this week. They cannot wait to share with us all the things they have planned!

Internet is working again and together with our Smartboard, it has been so much easier to do English and Science. What a difference!

Our Art Gallery is a work in progress...and last but not least I have been collecting the ONE EURO for the AGENDA; I would like to collect all before the big weekend that is waiting for us.

Jeremy draws a monster

The monster

Book Summary:
Jeremy never leaves his third floor apartment - ever. One day he decides to draw a monster, and the monster comes alive. Instead of being the companion Jeremy was probably hoping for, the monster turns out to be a demanding and dictatorial creature. Jeremy can't keep up with his demands; "Draw me sandwich! I am hungry!" the monster says. "Draw me a toaster, I like toast!", and the monster doesn't say thank you. Finally, Jeremy draws him a bus ticket and sends the monster packing. While bidding adieu to the monster at the bus stop, a group of children invite Jeremy to stay outside and play ball, and he does.
The story, while just a very engaging and funny read, is also a good example for young children learning the respectful and civil way of behaving in the larger world.

Magic and colours

What is it?

New American Language Assistant

Hi! my name is Sophie and I am one of two new language Assistants at the school this year. I am from McLean, Virginia, which is located right outside Washington, D.C.

I am very excited to be here with your children this year. I think it will be a fun filled year.

Two things they have already learned are "Bubbles" and "Cris-Cross Apple Sauce" to help with listening skills. We applied these skills while reading our first book, "Elmer" in the "SACC Room" (Ludoteca). I am excited to get to know your children and help them learn my language and culture.
